Toast Masters

BKS Toastmasters was formed in the year 2002, August 2002 to be precise, due to the efforts and commitment of DTM P.T. Thomas and ACB Jacob Stephen. Both of them were members of Indian Club Toastmasters and Bahrain Keralayeea Samajam in spite of being the largest expatriate club of Malayalees, there was no toastmasters club. In order to improve the public speaking skills in English and also improve the listening and leadership skills in English, the BKS Toastmasters was founded in August 2002 and chartered in October 2002 by Toastmasters International.

Toastmasters International is a worldwide organization with its headquarters in USA and the founder was Dr. Ralph C Smedley in the year 1924. Today it has more than 13,500 clubs in 116 countries across the globe. For more details you can visit www.toastmasters.org

The first President of BKS Toastmasters was Jacob Stephen and there were 21 members initially. Today BKS Toastmasters has more than 26 members and has produced many leaders who have been President, VP Education and Area Governor. BKS Toastmasters is part of Area 34 which consist of KEEN4 Toastmasters, Angels Toastmasters and YMCA Toastmasters. The club mentor is DTM P.T.Thomas

BKS Toastmasters meets twice a month at BKS,every 2 nd and 4 th Tuesdays from 8 pm to 10pm. By regularly giving speeches, gaining feedback, leading teams and guiding others to achieve their goals, leaders emerge. They learn to tell their stories. They listen and answer. They plan and lead. They give feedback - and accept it. They find their path to leadership. Yes, BKS Toastmasters is where you improve your communication, listening and leadership skills in a positive and constructive atmosphere, where there is no caste, no creed, no religion, just human beings meeting together to excel.
